Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – East Devon

Location: East Devon
Start Date: November 2026
⏰ Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £100 - £120 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working with a charming village primary school in East Devon to recruit a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This unique setting has just two mixed-age classes across the entire school, creating a close-knit, family feel where every member of staff plays an important role in the success of its pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA who enjoys variety, building strong relationships, and becoming a valued part of a small school community.

The Role

As a HLTA, you will:

  • Lead whole-class teaching during teacher release time and absences
  • Support learning across mixed-age classes
  • Deliver targeted interventions to small groups and individual pupils
  • Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning activities and support pupil progress
  • Help create a positive, nurturing and engaging learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families within the school community

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds HLTA status or has substantial experience in a similar role
  • Has experience working within a primary school environment
  • Is confident leading lessons and supporting mixed-age learning
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Is adaptable, enthusiastic and committed to helping children achieve their potential
  • Thrives in a small-school environment where teamwork is essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
