Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a variety of specialist schools in East Grinstead from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are passionate about supporting young people and want to gain hands-on experience working with pupils with additional needs. Whether you are considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, counselling or youth work, this role provides invaluable experience within a supportive SEN environment.
The Role
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs.
You will help pupils access education, develop confidence and overcome barriers to learning.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Helping students engage with lessons and activities
- Supporting communication and social development
- Encouraging independence and confidence
- Building positive relationships with pupils
- Helping implement personalised learning strategies
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Working collaboratively with teachers and wider school teams
No two days will be the same, and you will gain a unique insight into the challenges and rewards of working within specialist education.
Ideal Backgrounds
We are particularly interested in hearing from graduates with qualifications or experience in:
- Psychology
- Education Studies
- Criminology
- Sociology
- Childhood Studies
- Health and Social Care
- Sport and Coaching
- Counselling
Previous SEN experience is beneficial but not essential. We value enthusiasm, resilience and a genuine desire to support young people.

Requirements
- Clean UK Driving Licence and own car
- Enhanced Child Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
