Job description

Functional Skills Tutor – Manchester (M2)

Are you passionate about helping learners develop essential skills in Maths and English? We are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to provide one-to-one and small group tuition in Manchester (M2). This is a rewarding role where you’ll make a real difference by supporting learners to gain confidence, improve skills, and achieve their Functional Skills qualifications.

The Role

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, tailored lessons in Functional Skills Maths and English

  • Help learners prepare for assessments and exams

  • Support students in building confidence in practical and academic skills

  • Track progress, provide feedback, and celebrate achievements

  • Create a positive, motivating learning environment

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills Maths and/or English

  • Understands the Functional Skills curriculum and assessment standards

  • Can make lessons interactive, practical, and relevant

  • Is patient, reliable, and passionate about helping learners succeed

  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills

Location

Based in Manchester (M2) with opportunities to tutor learners locally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
