Food Technology Teacher – Good Ofsted School (L5 Area)

Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Food Technology Teacher to join a reputable secondary school located in the L5 area, recently graded Good by Ofsted. This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons.

This role is suitable for both qualified teachers (QTS/QTLS) and unqualified candidates with strong subject knowledge and substantial classroom or practical experience. The school is committed to supporting the right individual to excel in their role.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. Practical delivery is a key part of this role, so confidence in leading cooking sessions, managing equipment, and maintaining health and safety standards is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons, including practical cooking sessions
  • Take full classroom responsibilities including planning, marking, assessment, and behaviour management
  • Prepare and organise ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical lessons
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient food technology environment in line with health and safety requirements
  • Support learners of varying abilities and help drive progress within the department
  • Contribute to the wider school community and departmental initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery

Candidate Requirements

  • QTS/QTLS or significant experience in Food Technology teaching or practical delivery
  • Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology, nutrition, and practical cooking skills
  • Confident in delivering both theory and practical elements of the curriculum
  • Ability to manage a busy classroom and ensure safe practice in all practical sessions
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to supporting students

Applicants without formal teaching qualifications but with relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
