As the leading education recruitment agency, teaching personnel service a high proportion of the schools in the Gosport, Fareham and Portsmouth areas who have an increasing need for Cover Supervisors who can work with them in the absence of their usual teaching and cover staff.  As a cover supervisor you will be responsible for supervising pupils carrying out pre prepared exercises and to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task in a timely and well managed manner. The role of a Cover Supervisor is a rewarding yet challenging role which can offer valuable experience to prospectus future teachers or can offer a step up in career for an experienced teaching assistant. We are looking for individuals that are empathetic, supportive, non –judgemental with an open mind. The ability to build positive relationships with students is pivotal to being successful as a Cover Supervisor to encourage adequate learning and student engagement in your lessons.

Duties you may require to fulfil as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Managing the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures
  • reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a school environment or similar with a minimum of grades C in English, Maths and Science. It would be advantageous for you to have a curriculum related degree and you should be available for a minimum of three days per week.
