Position: EYFS Teaching Assistant

Location: Heaton Norris, SK4

Contract Type: Short-term, D2D, Temporary

Salary: £89.38 – 100 per day

Are you a warm, nurturing, and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work in an early-years setting?

We’re seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of supply staff, supporting nurseries on a short-term or day‑to‑day basis. Our partner nurseries are warm environments where children are nurtured, introduced to education and encouraged to learn through play. As an EYFS Teaching Assistant you should be prepared to help young children enjoy their time at nursery, keep them safe and follow the teacher’s instruction to ensure their progress.

As an education supply agency, we work with nurseries across Stockport providing them with excellent support when they are short staffed. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience across a variety of settings, build your confidence, and make a real difference in children’s early learning journeys — all while enjoying the freedom to choose when and where you work.

Responsibilities of an EYFS Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play‑based learning activities.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Assist with daily routines, including snack time, hygiene, and outdoor play.
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to children who need additional help.
  • Observe children’s progress and contribute to assessments or activity planning.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social development.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and, when appropriate, with parents or carers.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming classroom setting.
  • Offer personal care to children, as and when necessary.

Requirements of an EYFS Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children in an early year’s setting.
  • A relevant childcare or EYFS teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.
  • Ability to support learning through play and follow the class teacher’s direction.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, nurturing approach.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and confidence working in different nursery environments.
  • Up‑to‑date DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
