EYFS Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and committed to helping young children thrive during the crucial first stages of their education.
Working alongside the class teacher, you will support the learning, development and wellbeing of children within the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping to create a stimulating, engaging and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.
Location: Nelson
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Support children’s learning through play-based and adult-led activities.
- Assist in delivering the EYFS curriculum and promoting children's development across all areas of learning.
- Contribute to the planning and preparation of engaging learning environments and resources.
- Support children’s personal, social and emotional development.
- Observe, monitor and record children's progress.
- Deliver targeted interventions and support individual learning needs.
- Encourage children's independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals to support pupil progress.
- Help ensure the safety, welfare and safeguarding of all children.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working within an EYFS setting.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable).
- A good understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development.
- Experience supporting children with a range of abilities and needs, including SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
