EYFS Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young children’s learning and development in a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment.
You will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS staff to support children’s learning through play, helping them to develop socially, emotionally and academically during these vital early years.
Location: Harrogate and surrounding area
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Hours: Full-time
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Support children’s learning through planned play‑based and adult‑led activities
- Work with individuals and small groups to support progress and development
- Help to create a warm, engaging and well‑organised learning environment
- Support children with personal care needs where required
- Observe, record and contribute to assessments of children’s progress
- Promote positive behaviour, independence and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with staff and communicate effectively with parents/carers
The Successful Candidate Will
- Have experience of working with young children (EYFS experience desirable)
- Be nurturing, patient and enthusiastic about early learning
- Have a good understanding of the EYFS framework (or a willingness to learn)
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team
- Be committed to inclusion and safeguarding
- Hold (or be willing to work towards) a relevant childcare qualification

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
