Job description

Nursery Teacher – Full-Time

Location: Consett / DH8 Area
Start Date: After the Easter Holidays
Contract: Full-Time, Until the End of the Academic Year

Teaching Personnel are seeking a caring, creative and highly motivated Nursery Teacher to join a welcoming primary school based in the DH8 area. This is an exciting opportunity for an Early Years specialist to lead a nurturing and engaging learning environment, supporting the developmental needs of nursery-aged children.


Job Description

As the Nursery Teacher, you will deliver high-quality EYFS provision, planning and delivering lessons that inspire curiosity, independence and early learning. You will work closely with support staff to provide a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment, ensuring that every child’s progress is effectively supported and celebrated.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
  • Create a warm, stimulating and purposeful learning environment, indoors and outdoors.
  • Assess children’s development, track progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs, including those with SEND.
  • Support social and emotional development through positive relationships and play-based learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider school staff.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding progress and wellbeing.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

Requirements for the Role

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS).
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.
  • Experience teaching in an Early Years or nursery setting.
  • A nurturing, creative and child-centred approach to teaching.
  • Strong communication, organisational and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
