EYFS 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – September Start
Location: Blackburn
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only (Temporary/Permanent – subject to funding)
Start Date: September 2026
We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated EYFS 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school from September 2026 in Blackburn.
This rewarding role involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil in the Early Years Foundation Stage with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing, helping them to access the curriculum and flourish within the school environment.
Experience of supporting children with additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), developmental delay, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) would be highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
- Support the implementation of EHCP outcomes and personalised learning targets.
- Encourage the development of communication, social interaction and independence skills.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents and external agencies.
- Deliver targeted interventions and structured learning activities.
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.

- Has experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, preferably within EYFS.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy and a nurturing approach.
- Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is flexible, resilient and committed to inclusive practice.
- Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable) or equivalent experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
