SEMH English Teacher

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-Time, potential to go permanent

Are you a passionate and resilient English teacher who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH English Teacher to join our supportive school from September. This is an exciting opportunity to teach small classes of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment where positive relationships are at the heart of learning.

The Role

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that inspire confidence and achievement.
  • Teach small groups of students, enabling personalised learning and meaningful progress.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support both their academic and emotional development.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of learning needs and barriers.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral staff and families to provide a holistic approach to education.
  • Monitor progress and celebrate every success, helping students develop a love of learning.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
  • Understands the challenges faced by young people with SEMH needs, or is committed to developing expertise in this area.
  • Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Has high expectations for behaviour, learning and achievement.
  • Is creative, flexible and committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
