The Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, supporting students to develop their English Language and Literature skills and achieve their academic potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality English lessons.
  • Teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.
  • Preparing students for GCSE examinations where required.
  • Differentiating lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
  • Assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress.
  • Providing constructive feedback to support student development.
  • Creating engaging and challenging learning opportunities.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school team.
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher with a genuine passion for their subject.

You will ideally have:

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
  • Experience teaching GCSE English is desirable.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to engage, motivate and inspire students.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A flexible and professional approach to teaching.
  • A commitment to raising student attainment and achievement.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
