Fully Qualified English Teacher – Secondary Schools

Location: Liverpool
Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent (or specify)


About the Role

We are currently seeking a passionate and fully qualified English Teacher to join a range of well-established secondary schools across Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator to inspire a love of literature, language, and communication in students within supportive and diverse school environments.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will play a key role in developing students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills, helping them achieve strong academic outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and well-structured English lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience desirable)
  • Deliver both English Language and English Literature
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and higher achievers
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Prepare students for GCSE (and A-Level where applicable) examinations
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
  • Participate in parents’ evenings, school events, and professional development opportunities

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge in both English Language and Literature
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A passion for literacy and student development
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
  • Ability to motivate and inspire learners of all abilities

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level English
  • Strong track record of improving student attainment
  • Familiarity with the Liverpool education landscape
  • Experience delivering intervention programmes to support literacy
  • Use of innovative teaching methods or digital learning tools
