Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our secondary school in Hastings. This is a full-time position teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with full classroom responsibility.

The successful candidate will be passionate about English, committed to raising attainment, and able to deliver engaging and inspiring lessons that support all learners to achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Take full responsibility for classes, including planning, marking, and assessment
  • Prepare students for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
  • Track and monitor student progress, implementing interventions where required
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and the English department

 

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Experience with GCSE exam preparation and results improvement strategies
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development within the department

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
