Job description

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking to appoint a fully qualified and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their successful department from Easter 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking school community. The successful candidate will join a collaborative English department committed to delivering a rich and engaging curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 for the right candidate.

The school prides itself on high standards of teaching and learning, strong pastoral care, and a culture that promotes both academic success and personal development. Students are well-behaved, motivated, and supported by a leadership team that prioritises staff wellbeing and professional growth.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Have experience teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature and literacy

  • Be committed to raising attainment and supporting students of all abilities

  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply, and comprehensive support and mentoring will be provided where appropriate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
