Job description

English Lecturer – FE College – January Start

We are working in partnership with an Outstanding Further Education college in Greater Manchester who are seeking a dedicated English Lecturer to join their team from January. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to deliver high-quality English teaching to 16–19 learners working towards GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications.

You will contribute to a strong and collaborative English department, playing a key role in supporting students who may be re-sitting exams or progressing towards higher education, apprenticeships, or employment. The college has excellent student behaviour, well-structured learning pathways, and a supportive leadership team focused on continuous improvement.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons across GCSE and/or Functional Skills English
  • Plan high-quality learning sessions that build confidence, knowledge and exam readiness
  • Track learner progress and provide meaningful feedback
  • Contribute to departmental resources, curriculum planning and intervention support
  • Maintain a positive, achievement-focused classroom environment

Position Details:

  • Full-time contract from January
  • Initial 6–12 week term with strong possibility of extension or permanent placement
  • Paid in line with MPS / UPS or FE salary scales
  • Suitability for both secondary and FE English specialists
