Job description

We are seeking a motivated and confident English Graduate Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning across a secondary school. This role involves supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher, delivering pre-prepared English lessons, and ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future PGCE or teacher training route, offering valuable classroom experience in a secondary setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise English lessons across KS3 and KS4 using set work

  • Manage classroom behaviour and engage students in learning

  • Support pupils to stay on task and meet lesson objectives

  • Follow school policies on behaviour, safeguarding, and attendance

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A degree in English or a related subject

  • Confidence working with groups of up to 30 students

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • A professional, calm, and proactive approach

  • A genuine interest in education and teaching

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
