Job Vacancy: Early Years Teaching Assistant – Nursery (Primary School Setting)

Location: Sandbach, Cheshire
Start Date: Tuesday 14th April 2026
Contract: Full-time, until the Summer holidays
Potential: Permanent role available for the right candidate
Salary: Dependent on experience (Level 2/3 TA or Early Years qualification)

About the Role

A warm and nurturing Nursery attached to a well-regarded Primary School in Sandbach is seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from Tuesday 14th April.
This full-time position will run until the end of the Summer term, with a strong possibility of becoming a permanent role for a candidate who excels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher and EYFS staff in delivering high‑quality early years provision.
  • Assist with planning and implementing engaging, play‑based learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
  • Provide nurturing support to children aged 3–4, fostering positive relationships and encouraging their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
  • Observe children’s progress and contribute to assessments and learning journals.
  • Support with personal care routines where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Uphold the school’s safeguarding, health & safety, and behaviour policies at all times.

Requirements

  • A relevant Early Years or Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) – essential.
  • Experience working within an Early Years or Nursery setting.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of the children.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
