Early Years Teaching Assistant – Newport (NP20)

Location: Newport (NP20) 
Contract: Full-time, Part-time & Flexible Opportunities Available
Salary: From £92 per day (paid weekly)

Teaching Personnel is recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary schools and Early Years settings in the Newport (NP20) area.

This role is perfect for individuals with experience in nurseries, preschools, childcare settings, or Reception classes who are passionate about helping young children build confidence, develop key life skills, and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils during the most important stage of their development, helping to create a positive, engaging and nurturing learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting children within Nursery and Reception classes
  • Delivering and assisting with engaging EYFS-focused activities
  • Encouraging communication, language and social development
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support, including for children with ALN/SEN
  • Supporting daily classroom routines and personal care when required
  • Promoting learning through play, exploration and outdoor activities
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment for all learners
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff and parents to support pupil progress

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience working with children in an Early Years, nursery, childcare or school setting
  • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Knowledge of child development and learning through play
  • Confidence supporting children with additional learning needs (ALN/SEN)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A positive, patient and nurturing approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing

Desirable:

  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, Childcare Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Experience supporting speech, language and communication development
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Reliable, adaptable and proactive
  • Confident supporting learning and development through play
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to obtain one
