Early Years Support Assistant – Reception
Location: Burnley
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Full-time, term time
Contract: Fixed term (subject to funding)
A Burnley primary school is looking to appoint a caring and reliable Early Years Support Assistant to support children joining Reception in September 2026. The children will not yet be school ready and will be under assessment for additional needs (EHCPs not yet in place).
This role focuses on helping children settle into school, develop routines and access early learning with the right support in place.
Main Duties:
- Support children as they transition into Reception
- Work with the class teacher to provide daily classroom support
- Offer one‑to‑one and small‑group support as needed
- Help children with behaviour, communication and emotional regulation
- Support personal care, routines and independence where required
- Observe children and contribute to assessment evidence
- Work closely with staff and parents
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with young children (EYFS or SEN experience preferred)
- Is patient, calm and caring
- Understands child development and early learning
- Can build positive relationships with children
- Works well as part of a team
- Is committed to safeguarding and inclusion
Experience supporting children with additional needs or early intervention is desirable, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
