Job description

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) – September Opportunities

St Austell & Truro Areas | Full‑Time | Long‑Term & Permanent Roles Available

Are you an Early Career Teacher excited to begin your teaching journey this September?
Looking for a supportive school where you can grow, feel valued, and build confidence in your first year?
Ready to secure your ECT role early so you can focus on finishing your training strong?

Teaching Personnel are partnering with several welcoming primary schools across the St Austell and Truro areas who are now looking to appoint ECTs for the new academic year. Whether your passion lies in KS1 or KS2, we’re here to help you find a school that’s the perfect fit.

This is an exciting moment in your career — and we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way.

What Schools Are Offering for ECTs

Our schools understand what ECTs need to succeed. You can expect:

  • A structured ECT induction programme
  • Mentorship from experienced teachers
  • Time allocated each week for ECT development
  • Supportive year‑group partners
  • Clear progression routes and ongoing CPD
  • A chance to bring your energy, ideas, and creativity into the classroom

You’ll be joining environments where ECTs are genuinely welcomed, not “guinea pigs”.

What the Role Involves

You will:

  • Teach a class in KS1 or KS2 (depending on your strengths and preference)
  • Plan and deliver engaging, ambitious lessons
  • Support pupils’ wellbeing, confidence, and academic progress
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and staff
  • Create a warm, inclusive classroom environment
  • Receive ongoing support from leadership and your ECT mentor

Your voice matters — and your ideas will be encouraged.

Who We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Are completing your PGCE / SCITT / ITT / BA QTS this year
  • Are passionate about primary education and child‑centred learning
  • Bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn
  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Want to secure a role early and step into September with confidence
  • Are open to long‑term placements or permanent roles

Whether you love phonics and early literacy, or thrive teaching upper‑KS2 reasoning and writing — we have roles for you.

Why Choose Teaching Personnel?

As an ECT with Teaching Personnel, you’ll benefit from:

  • Exclusive early access to September vacancies
  • Support securing long‑term roles that count toward your ECT induction
  • Opportunities for permanent placements
  • Weekly pay and simple admin through the myTP portal
  • Access to our CPD Academy (phonics, SEN, behaviour, safeguarding + more)
  • Consistent communication and pastoral support from your consultant (me!)
  • A chance to trial schools before committing if you want to explore options

You’re never just “placed” — you’re supported, guided, and set up to succeed.

High-Demand Areas for ECTs

We’re actively looking for ECTs in:

  • St Austell
  • Truro
  • Par
  • Tywardreath
  • Penryn
  • Falmouth
  • Surrounding Mid Cornwall areas

If you’re returning home to Cornwall after university, this is an ideal time to secure your first post.
