About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Drama Teacher to join their team on a maternity cover basis from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to deliver high‑quality Drama education within a collaborative and supportive environment. The Role: Drama Teacher

As a Drama Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, working collaboratively with colleagues to plan and implement effective curriculum strategies.

You will support pupil progress, contribute to raising attainment, and foster a stimulating learning environment that motivates and challenges students to achieve their full potential.

In addition to teaching, you will contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral responsibilities and enrichment opportunities.


What You Will Do

  • Deliver high‑quality Drama teaching, preparing students for assessments and examinations
  • Plan engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to a range of abilities, including SEND and EAL learners
  • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching to improve outcomes
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and effective pedagogy
  • Provide intervention and revision support where required
  • Set and mark work in line with school policies, maintaining high standards
  • Participate in meetings, training, and wider school events
  • Act as a form tutor, supporting students’ personal development and wellbeing
  • Promote safeguarding, attendance, positive behaviour, and student welfare
  • Contribute to enrichment activities and the broader school community

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or working towards QTS)
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject
  • Experience teaching Drama across KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective teaching approaches
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Understanding of safeguarding, SEND, equality, and health & safety requirements

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching at post‑16 level
  • Experience as a form tutor
  • Involvement in extracurricular or enrichment activities
  • Experience contributing to assessment or examination processes
  • Ability to utilise digital platforms to enhance teaching and learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
