Design & Technology Teacher – Dorchester
Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Design & Technology Teacher to work within a secondary school in Dorchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative educator who is passionate about practical learning and keen to help students develop valuable technical, design and problem-solving skills.
You will join a supportive school environment where students are encouraged to be creative, think independently and develop confidence through practical and theoretical learning.
The Role
The successful Design & Technology Teacher will be responsible for:
- Delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Developing students' practical, creative and technical abilities
- Teaching students how to work safely with a variety of tools, materials and processes
- Encouraging creativity, innovation and independent problem-solving
- Supporting students through design projects from initial concepts to completed outcomes
- Preparing and delivering GCSE-level content where required
- Monitoring and assessing student progress effectively
- Providing clear, constructive feedback to support student development
- Creating an inclusive classroom where all students are encouraged to participate and succeed
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the wider Design & Technology curriculum
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who can demonstrate:
- Qualified Teacher Status or an appropriate teaching qualification
- Strong subject knowledge within Design & Technology
- Experience teaching at secondary level, ideally across KS3 and KS4
- A passion for practical, creative and skills-based learning
- The ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and safeguarding
