Role Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design Technology Teacher with experience in Textiles to join one of our partnership secondary schools in Newport. This is a long-term opportunity for a creative and dedicated educator who is passionate about design, innovation, and practical learning. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their creativity, technical skills, and confidence within a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
Subject Required:
• Design Technology (Textiles Specialism)
Key Responsibilities:
• Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and practical textiles and design technology lessons in line with the national curriculum.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organised, and productive workshop/classroom environment.
• Creative Development: Encourage creativity, innovation, and independent thinking through hands-on learning experiences.
• Assessment and Progress: Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
• Relationship Building: Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, contributing to a collaborative school culture.
Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Design Technology, with a strong focus on Textiles
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Passion for creative and practical subjects
• Enhanced Child-Only DBS
• Registered with the Education Workforce Council
• Right to work in the UK
Working Hours & Pay:
• Monday to Friday
• 08:30 – 15:00
• Minimum £172.98 per day (dependent on experience)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
