Design Technology Teacher

Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Design Technology Teacher for a full-time position at an Ofsted Good, diverse secondary school in Audenshaw, renowned for its excellent reputation. This role begins in September and spans the full academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and innovative Design Technology lessons that align with the national curriculum. Ensure lessons cater to the varied learning styles and abilities of students.
  • Practical Skills and Projects: Guide students through practical projects, helping them to develop hands-on skills in areas such as woodworking, metalworking, electronics, and graphic design. Emphasize safety and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through coursework, practical assignments, and examinations. Provide constructive feedback to support student improvement and mastery of design and technology concepts.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment. Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a productive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Resource Management: Manage classroom resources effectively, ensuring materials and equipment are well-maintained and available for student use. Coordinate with the department to source necessary materials for projects.
  • Support for Individual Learning Needs: Identify and address individual student needs, providing additional support where necessary to ensure all students can succeed. Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning abilities.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in design technology education and integrate new methods and technologies into the classroom. Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the school and Teaching Personnel.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the design technology curriculum and share best practices. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Lead or support design technology-related extracurricular activities, clubs, or competitions to further engage students and enrich their learning experience.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Design Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Design Technology at the secondary school level, with a strong understanding of curriculum requirements and assessment methods.
  • Proficiency in a range of design technology disciplines, such as product design, resistant materials, electronics, and graphics.
  • Excellent organizational and classroom management skills, capable of fostering a safe and inspiring learning environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a proactive approach to addressing educational challenges.
  • Passion for Design Technology education and the ability to inspire students to develop their skills and creativity in the subject.
  • Ability to make complex technical concepts accessible and engaging, encouraging a deep understanding and appreciation of Design Technology.
