Learning Support Assistants needed at Ofsted good, 11-16 mixed secondary school in the Cheadle area of Stockport. This is a full-time post starting after the May half term until Christmas 2023, the post is likely to be extended depending on performance.

  • £385 - £485 paid weekly.
  • Working hours 8:20 – 15:00, Monday – Friday.

The school in question is a catholic school and regarded as one of the most desirable places to work in the Manchester area. Rated ‘good’ by Ofsted the school benefits from having outstanding facilities and a highly supportive Senior Leadership Team. Over the years the school has built a reputation within the local community for its well-mannered, ambitious pupils, they are seeking a proactive and passionate individual to join their support staff team.

In this role the successful applicant will be expected to alongside class teachers to help deliver sessions, support students with their classwork as well as aiding teachers manage behaviour. On occasion you will also work closely with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), you will work in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis with these students to ensure they are receiving the correct level of support and are achieving their potential.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist advice and guidance (e.g. Art/Music) as required.
  • Liaise with parents/carers, schools and establish constructive relationships and communicate with other relevant bodies to support achievement and progress of pupils (this includes attendance at parents meetings).
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against predetermined learning objectives.
  • Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs, including assessment.

The school is situated in the Cheadle area of Stockport and benefits from a nearby bus stop and train station. For those who drive there is a secure, onsite carpark with easy access to the M60 & M56. Applicants must undergo a full DBS check and provide 2 recent references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
