Location: Saltburn-by-the-Sea
Pay: £90–£110 per day
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team, supporting the smooth and effective running of lessons when teachers are absent. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a school community that values inclusion, respect, and high aspirations for all students.
Role Overview
As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for delivering pre-prepared lesson materials, ensuring students remain on task and engaged throughout the session. You will help maintain a calm, structured learning environment, manage behaviour in line with school policies, and provide support where needed. This role is ideal for someone confident, proactive, and passionate about helping young people succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Keep students focused on their set work and encourage positive participation.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and address issues in line with school policy.
- Provide clear feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and behaviour during cover lessons.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policy procedures at all times.
- Support students with additional needs where appropriate to ensure inclusive practice.
Person Specification
- Experience working with young people (school-based experience preferred but not essential).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Confidence in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt quickly to changing situations.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Genuine enthusiasm for education and supporting student development.
