Job description

Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (Ashford)

Location: Ashford, Kent
Pay: £110 – £120 per day

We are working with a range of welcoming secondary schools in Ashford who are seeking reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to provide classroom supervision during planned and unplanned teacher absences.

This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting while supporting pupils’ learning and maintaining high standards of behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the class teacher

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and learning materials set by teaching staff

  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies

  • Ensure pupils remain engaged, focused, and on task throughout the lesson

  • Take accurate registers and follow school safeguarding procedures

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson outcomes and pupil behaviour

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils (education, youth work, or similar)

  • Strong classroom presence and confidence managing groups of students

  • Flexible, adaptable approach to different subjects and year groups

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
