Youth Support Officer

Hours: 8:30 – 3:30 (Monday to Friday, no weekends!)

Pay:£89.38 p/d

Contract: Temporary to permanent

Location: Llandeilo

Start Date: 16th Feb 2026

Job Description

You will be required to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The children/young people you are supporting come from a variety of different backgrounds which make them very vulnerable and cautious of new relationships. As a youth support officer, it will be essential that you work on building relationships with the young people in the school by being a mentor to them and understanding how to communicate with them in the most effective way.

This role requires someone which is resilient and looking for an opportunity to work within alternative education. The reason alternative education is provided is to provide education relevant to the requirements that the young people need for their life outside of school. For example, a lot of vocational lessons are adopted to provide a practical approach to jobs in the future. As well as this, there is also opportunity for the young people to delve into their hobbies and interests to spark a positive relationship between them and education.

This opportunity is very exciting as it will not only give you the opportunity to work with these incredible young people but will also enhance your knowledge and understanding for your future in Education as a whole.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will also require the following: (We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)

-          Enhanced DBS on the update service

-          Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)

-          Level 2 as a minimum for Safeguarding for Children and vulnerable people

-          2 references which cover a 24-month period (or equivalent)

What would the onboarding process look like?

-          Apply by attaching a CV for consideration

-          Shortlisting will take place after 48 hours of the application being submitted (working days)

-          A telephone call will be provided to talk through more detail on the role so you can establish if you wish to move forward and if the role is right for you

-          If happy to proceed, you will then be invited in for interview

-          If successful at interview stage, we will do all of the background work to have you cleared for work ahead of the start date

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
