Penarth ALN School

We are looking for a Classroom Support to work in our client school in Penarth. We are looking for someone with a friendly and confident personality to join the team on a full-time basis supporting learners from the primary phase of the school with additional needs.

Our client school caters to learners with a range of additional needs including Autism, Physical Disabilities, Speech and Language Needs and Sensory Impairments. We are looking for a Classroom Support that is experienced helping people with additional needs, but this does not have to be from an education background as we welcome applicants with a range of experiences. The classroom support will mainly be working in a primary ASD class however will be expected to cover around the school if needed so the ability to adapt your support and build relationships quickly is essential.

We are looking for someone who is able to start ASAP and during the application process you will be expected to apply for:

  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS
  • Education Workforce Council

Rate: 13.29 per hour

Full Time: Monday to Friday

Role and Responsibilities:

You will be working in class one on one with students building positive relationships with learners and developing your understanding of additional needs.

Supporting students as they work through activities set up by the class teacher.

Manage learner behaviour and reduce any challenging behaviour.

Support the class teacher with learners assessments and monitor learner progress towards targets.

Work closely with other education staff and health staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
