Secondary Schools – Blaenau Gwent
Up to £130 per day
Flexible work available: Full-time, part-time or day-to-day supply

Are you confident leading a classroom and looking to gain experience working in secondary schools across Blaenau Gwent?

Teaching Personnel is working with several secondary schools across Blaenau Gwent seeking reliable and adaptable Classroom Leads / Cover Supervisors to support during teacher absence. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, tutors, or anyone with experience supporting young people.

Many candidates use this role as a stepping stone into teacher training, PGCE routes, behaviour support roles, or long-term careers in education.


The Role: Classroom Lead / Cover Supervisor (Secondary Schools)

As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring pupils remain engaged and learning continues in the teacher’s absence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering lessons using work set by the class teacher
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Supporting pupils with tasks and maintaining engagement
• Providing cover across a range of secondary subjects
• Creating a calm and structured classroom environment
• Following safeguarding and behaviour procedures at all times

This is a varied role offering valuable classroom leadership experience across secondary schools in Blaenau Gwent.

This role would suit applicants who:

• Have experience working with young people (schools, coaching, youth work, tutoring, mentoring)
• Are confident leading groups of secondary-aged pupils
• Have strong communication and behaviour management skills
• Are adaptable across different subjects and school environments
• Are organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
• Are graduates considering a future career in teaching

Previous classroom support or behaviour support experience is beneficial but not essential.

Requirements

To work as a Cover Supervisor in Blaenau Gwent secondary schools, applicants must:

• Have experience supporting young people
• Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS certificate
• Provide two references covering recent experience with young people
• Have the right to work in the UK
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential - due to travel between schools across Blaenau Gwent)
