Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Braille Support Assistant to support a learner with a visual impairment in a school in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual with Braille reading skills who is passionate about helping children access education and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Braille Support Assistant, you will work closely with a visually impaired learner, providing in-class support and ensuring they can fully access learning materials and participate in all aspects of school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret Braille materials accurately.
- Provide one-to-one support within the classroom.
- Assist with adapting learning resources where required.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals.
- Support the learner's academic and personal development.
Requirements
- Ability to read Braille confidently (essential).
- Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring, and reliable approach.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting learners with visual impairments.
- Experience within education, SEN, or support work settings.
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or disability support.
