Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Braille Support Assistant to support a learner with a visual impairment in a school in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual with Braille reading skills who is passionate about helping children access education and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Braille Support Assistant, you will work closely with a visually impaired learner, providing in-class support and ensuring they can fully access learning materials and participate in all aspects of school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret Braille materials accurately.
• Provide one-to-one support within the classroom.
• Assist with adapting learning resources where required.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals.
• Support the learner's academic and personal development.

Requirements

• Ability to read Braille confidently (essential).
• Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring, and reliable approach.
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

• Previous experience supporting learners with visual impairments.
• Experience within education, SEN, or support work settings.
• Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or disability support.
