Behavioural Support Assistant – Full-Time, Long-Term Role

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive both in and out of the classroom? We are seeking a committed Behavioural Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Ellesmere Port, providing tailored support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role

In this rewarding position, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and academic support. Your role will be essential in helping to create a safe, positive, and structured learning environment where every student can succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Assist in developing personalised support plans
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
  • Encourage resilience, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
  • Support learning across a range of subjects and activities
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with students

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (desired but not essential)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work consistently as part of a supportive team
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in young people’s lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
