Teaching Personnel is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting in Ystradgynlais, supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEBD). Many learners may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and challenges that impact their engagement with education.

Nestled within beautiful grounds and offering a highly supportive and nurturing environment , this specialist setting focuses on helping pupils develop emotionally, socially, and academically. Staff work closely together to create a safe space where every learner can thrive and feel valued.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You'll help to build trust, encourage positive behaviour, and support young people in reaching their full potential.

✅ Key Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning activities within the classroom

Provide 1:1 and small group support

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils

Support children and young people with behavioural, emotional, and trauma-related needs

Encourage communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

Assist with creative, practical, and outdoor learning activities

✏️ Help implement individual learning and behaviour support plans

Monitor and record pupil progress and wellbeing

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

️ Promote safeguarding and maintain a safe learning environment

✔️ Has experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults (desirable but not essential)

✔️ Has an interest in behaviour support, trauma-informed practice, and additional learning needs

✔️ Can remain calm and positive in challenging situations
