Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational provision supporting pupils in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Needs (BESN) from September.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support learners who require additional guidance, structure, and encouragement to achieve both academically and personally.

Staff work collaboratively to create a safe and inclusive setting where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
The Role
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will:
β Support students across KS3 and KS4 with behavioural, emotional, and social needs
β Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
β Help manage behaviour positively and consistently within the classroom and around the school
β Support students during lessons and intervention sessions
β Encourage emotional regulation, engagement, and attendance
β Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
β Act as a positive role model and mentor for young people
β Help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
Resilient and patient when faced with challenging situations
Reliable and consistent in their approach and attendance
β€οΈ Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
οΈ An excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills
Calm, confident, and able to maintain professional boundaries
A driver with access to a vehicle is highly desirable

Previous experience in any of the following would be highly beneficial:
- BESN (Behavioural, Emotional & Social Needs)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
- Alternative provisions
- PRUs (Pupil Referral Units)
- Youth work
- Residential care
- Support work
- Mental health support
- ASC/Autism support
- Behaviour mentoring
- Sports coaching
- Military backgrounds
- Teaching Assistant roles
- Education settings supporting additional learning needs
Don't worry if your experience comes from outside education – transferable skills are highly valued!
