Supply Teaching Assistant (Behavioural Support)

Swansea Area | Full-Time Preferred | KS1 – KS4

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Supply Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist pupil referral setting supporting learners aged KS1 through KS4 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.


About the School

You will be working in a specialist alternative provision that supports pupils who are unable to attend mainstream education. The setting:

  • Provides a structured, nurturing environment
  • Supports students with challenging behaviours and additional needs
  • Focuses on re-engagement with education, emotional regulation, and life skills
  • Delivers small group and 1:1 support to maximise pupil progress

This is a highly rewarding environment where consistency, patience, and resilience are key


About the Role

As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work on a flexible supply basis, with opportunities for consistent long-term placements
  • Support the same setting regularly (full-time availability preferred for pupil consistency )
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Adapt to different situations while maintaining a calm and supportive approach

Full-time availability is highly desirable due to the importance of building trust and routine with pupils.


What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (essential)
  • Experience supporting individuals with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs (highly desirable)
  • Backgrounds in care, youth work, coaching or similar are welcomed

Other Requirements:

  • Driving licence & access to a vehicle (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills
  • Resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
