Behaviour Support Assistant – Long-Term Role – Southampton
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a specialist school in Southampton on a long-term basis.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour and require additional emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day. The position has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The school supports children and young people with a range of additional needs including SEMH, autism, ADHD and complex behavioural needs. Staff work closely together to provide a consistent, structured and nurturing environment that helps pupils feel safe, understood and supported.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviour
- Working on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
- Helping students regulate emotions and remain engaged in learning
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting teachers with behaviour strategies and classroom routines
- Encouraging positive social interactions and emotional development
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working within education, care, youth work or support settings
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- Resilient, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people
Pay:
£14.25 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
