Teaching Assistant – SEMH School - Permanent role

Cranborne, Dorset | Full-Time

Teaching Personnel are currently helping support a specialist SEMH secondary school in Cranborne to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a permanent role.

This role offers the chance to play a vital part in supporting young people aged 11–16, helping them navigate both their education and emotional development in a structured, supportive setting.

About the Role

You will be working closely with students who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your role will involve building positive relationships, supporting learning within the classroom, and helping pupils regulate their behaviour and emotions throughout the school day.

Collaboration is key — you’ll work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to ensure each student is supported both academically and personally.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from individuals who are patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about working with young people who may present with additional challenges.

You should:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN or SEMH needs
  • Be confident working 1:1 and with small groups
  • Be able to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle due to the school’s rural location
  • Be available for a consistent, full-time role
