Behaviour Mentor – Special School (Coventry)

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a special school in Coventry that supports students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking enthusiastic and resilient individuals with a sporting background to work as full-time Behaviour Mentors / Teaching Assistants (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm).
This rewarding role involves working closely with students aged 11–16, often on a 1:1 basis, supporting their learning, emotional development, and behaviour. The school is looking for proactive team players who can build strong relationships, promote engagement, and help pupils make positive life choices.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable school-based experience before progressing into teacher training or a long-term career in education or youth support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Providing 1:1 support for students with additional needs
- Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- Acting as a positive role model to encourage confidence, resilience, and positive choices
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources
- Using your enthusiasm and sporting background to promote participation and engagement
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have a background in sports, coaching, or youth work
- Be passionate about working with vulnerable young people
- Have experience (or a strong interest) in supporting students with SEN/SEMH needs
- Be patient, resilient, and able to build strong relationships
- Ideally have some recent experience in a school or similar setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
