Behaviour Mentor – Alternative Provision (Year 10)
Full-time | Permanent | Start January 2026
Location: Carlisle

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join our Alternative Provision on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work primarily with a Year 10 class, supporting students who may present challenging behaviours, social/emotional needs, or barriers to learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed, patient, and able to build positive, consistent relationships with young people who need stability and encouragement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily behaviour and pastoral support to students in Year 10

  • Work alongside teaching staff to promote positive behaviour strategies

  • Deliver targeted interventions to help students regulate emotions and manage behaviour

  • Build trust and rapport with pupils to improve engagement and attendance

  • Support learners both inside and outside the classroom

  • Model positive behaviour, resilience, and professional conduct at all times

  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing practices across the provision

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Calm, approachable, and able to de-escalate challenging situations

  • Experienced in working with children or young people, ideally in an alternative provision, SEN, or behaviour support setting

  • Emotionally resilient and able to maintain a consistent, supportive presence

  • A strong communicator with excellent relationship-building skills

  • Committed to helping students reach their potential, regardless of barriers
