Teaching Personnel is recruiting an enthusiastic and compassionate Autism Support Assistant to join a welcoming specialist SEN school in Rochdale this September. This full-time role offers the opportunity to support pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, helping them thrive academically, socially and emotionally in a nurturing learning environment.

The Role
You will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), providing tailored support throughout the school day. Every day is different, from supporting learning in the classroom to developing communication, independence and life skills.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and additional learning needs.
- Use visual aids, structured routines and communication strategies to promote engagement.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Build trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
- Assist with sensory activities and personalised learning programmes.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to support individual EHCP targets.
- Support personal care where required.

- Experience supporting children or young people with autism, SEN or SEMH (school, care or community settings).
- A calm, patient and positive approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education.
- A willingness to learn and develop through ongoing training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
