Assistant Headteacher – Alternative Provision (SEMH)

Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £63,070 - £66,368
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our alternative provision in Luton , supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a pivotal leadership role for someone passionate about transforming the lives of young people who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. You will work closely with the Headteacher to shape the strategic direction of the provision, ensuring every student receives the support they need to succeed, and ensure every pupil receives a high-quality, inclusive education.

You will:
- Lead the development of a flexible, ambitious and inclusive curriculum
- Drive consistently strong teaching and learning through effective quality assurance
- Embed trauma-informed approaches across the provision
- Support and develop staff to deliver engaging, high-impact learning experiences
- Oversee assessment, tracking and data systems to ensure meaningful use of pupil progress information
- Lead strategies to improve outcomes, reintegration opportunities and successful post-16 pathways
- Contribute strategically as part of the Senior Leadership Team to whole-school improvement and staff development

- Understands the needs of pupils with SEMH, SEND and complex barriers to learning
- A passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
- Can motivate, challenge and support staff effectively
- Has excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Is committed to maintaining high expectations and positive relationships
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant leadership experience
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
