Alternative Provision Learning Assistant

Teaching Personnel are seeking kind, motivated and proactive practitioners to support pupils across primary, secondary and specialist SEN settings. Your support will help children with additional needs feel safe, confident and able to engage in learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work with pupils with a wide range of needs, such as ASC, ADHD, social communication differences, sensory needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties. Every day will be different, but always meaningful.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing classroom support alongside teachers
  • Leading 1:1 or small‑group interventions
  • Supporting communication and emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils with routines, sensory tools and positive behaviour
  • Making learning enjoyable and accessible
  • Working closely with SENCOs, therapists and school teams

This is an excellent opportunity to build varied, hands‑on SEND experience.

Who We’re Hoping to Meet

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people (in education, care, youth work, support roles, tutoring, psychology, etc.)
  • A calm, positive and nurturing approach
  • A willingness to support behavioural, sensory and communication needs
  • Reliability, resilience and a proactive attitude
  • Availability Monday to Friday (8:30–15:30)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service - or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
