Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Barry

Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: September 2026

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in EYFS within a welcoming two-form entry primary school in Barry.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young children in the early stages of their education and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing school environment.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Assist the child with learning, engagement, and social development throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to implement individual support strategies.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the child's emotional wellbeing and promote independence where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children in schools, nurseries, childcare settings, or similar environments.
  • Patient, caring, and able to build positive relationships with young children.
  • Understanding of additional learning needs (ALN) is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Registration with Teaching Personnel.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • References covering the last two years.
