Academic Mentor / Intervention Specialist (Maths, English, Science)
Location: Tameside
Salary: £89 - £110 per day (depending on experience and subject area)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time or part-time (flexible depending on subject and availability)
Do you have a strong academic background in Maths, English, or Science and want to make a difference to student outcomes? A high-performing school in Tameside is seeking an Academic Mentor to deliver structured, high-impact intervention sessions to small groups of KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Main Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging and focused catch-up sessions for students identified as below target.

Work closely with Heads of Department to align intervention content with the curriculum.

Address gaps in knowledge and provide exam revision support where required.

Track pupil progress and adjust intervention strategies to ensure measurable impact.

Offer pastoral encouragement and help build resilience in students facing barriers to learning.

Graduates (Maths, English, Science) or experienced tutors seeking in-school roles.

Teaching Assistants with a subject specialism and academic background.

Those exploring a route into teaching via Future Teachers or PGCE preparation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
