SEN Teaching Assistant – Wigan
Full-time | Term-time | September Start
Are you a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a supportive, nurturing school environment? Teaching Personnel are working with a welcoming and well-resourced specialist education setting in Wigan seeking a dedicated TA to support pupils with a range of additional needs.
About the Role
You will support pupils aged 3–19 with a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN) including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Complex needs and sensory processing difficulties
The school provides a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment, with a strong focus on personalised support, communication, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual EHCP targets
- Assist in delivering creative, engaging lessons alongside the class teacher
- Support pupils with daily routines, personal care (where required) and emotional regulation
- Use positive behaviour strategies to promote engagement and well-being
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Monitor and record progress, behaviour and achievements
✅ Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (education, care, or support setting)
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting inclusive education
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
