Job description

A New Path in Teaching – Tuition Roles in M9 (Harpurhey / Blackley)

Have you recently stepped away from the classroom but still want to make a real difference? Tuition could be the perfect next step.

We are looking for qualified teachers to deliver 1:1 and small group tuition in the M9 area of Manchester, including Harpurhey and Blackley. This role offers the chance to continue using your teaching skills in a more flexible, focused, and rewarding way – without the pressures of a full classroom.

You’ll be working with pupils who may be out of mainstream education due to SEND, SEMH, medical needs or anxiety. Sessions are delivered face-to-face in homes or local community settings, allowing you to tailor your teaching to each learner’s individual needs. Instead of managing whole-class demands, you’ll have the time and freedom to rebuild confidence, close learning gaps, and see your impact first-hand.

This role is ideal for recently retired teachers, or those who have left the profession but still have a passion for education. Strong subject knowledge in English and/or Maths is essential, along with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).

In return, you’ll receive competitive hourly pay (£25–£30 depending on experience), flexible weekday hours during the school day, weekly PAYE pay, and ongoing support from a dedicated consultant. Most importantly, you’ll rediscover the rewarding side of teaching – helping pupils thrive on a one-to-one basis.

If you’re ready for a new chapter in your teaching career, tuition in the M9 area could be exactly the opportunity you’ve been looking for. Apply today with your CV.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
