Job description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Year 5 Class Teacher to join our welcoming mainstream primary school in Waterlooville from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to work with a supportive team and inspire pupils during this important stage of their Key Stage 2 learning.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons, foster a positive learning environment, and support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and strong academic foundations as they progress towards Year 6.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress, adapting teaching where necessary

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, and school leaders

  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers

  • Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable but not essential)

  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • A creative and engaging approach to teaching and learning

  • High expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour

  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
