Year 2 Class Teacher

Location: Primary Schools in Sheffield & Barnsley
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (or Fixed-term)
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Year 2 Teacher to join one of our welcoming primary schools across Sheffield and Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to ensuring all children make strong progress in the final year of KS1. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across the Year 2 curriculum

  • Prepare pupils for KS1 assessments through supportive, well-structured teaching

  • Differentiate learning to meet a range of abilities, including pupils with SEND and EAL

  • Promote positive behaviour and create a warm, nurturing classroom environment

  • Track pupil progress, complete assessments, and use data to inform planning

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across KS1 and the wider school team

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff

  • Contribute to wider school life, including events, clubs, and enrichment activities

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum, phonics, and early literacy

  • Ability to create engaging, differentiated learning experiences

  • Good classroom and behaviour management

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s well-being

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Year 2 or within Key Stage 1

  • Experience delivering phonics programmes (e.g., Little Wandle, RWI)

  • Knowledge of KS1 SATs and assessment frameworks

  • A creative approach to curriculum and classroom practice
