Job description

Year 2 Teacher – BH22

Full-time | Long-term | Start after Easter

Not every school gets this stage right.

Year 2 is where things start to click — reading becomes fluent, confidence grows, and pupils begin to see themselves as learners. One of our lovely schools in BH22 understands that, and they’re looking for a teacher who does too.

You’ll be joining a warm, community-focused school with a supportive leadership team, a KS1 team that genuinely works together, and pupils who are engaged and ready to learn. No gimmicks — just a positive environment where you can focus on teaching well.

What you’ll actually be doing

You’ll take full responsibility for a Year 2 class, guiding them through a key point in their development. That includes SATs preparation — but without losing sight of what really matters: building confidence, curiosity, and strong foundations.

Phonics, reading, writing, maths — it’s all part of the role, but you’ll have the flexibility to teach it in a way that works.

What matters here

  • Experience teaching in KS1 (Year 2 is a bonus, not essential)
  • Strong understanding of phonics and early learning
  • Calm, consistent classroom management
  • Clear communication with staff and parents

(QTS and a DBS on the Update Service — or willingness to obtain one — are required.)

What you’ll get in return

  • A genuinely supportive school environment
  • A collaborative KS1 team
  • A dedicated consultant who keeps things straightforward
  • Competitive weekly pay
  • Access to CPD when you want it

Looking for something slightly different?

If this role isn’t quite right, we’re also working with a range of welcoming primary schools across Bournemouth and Poole, with opportunities in KS1 and KS2. Whether you’re looking for something long-term, short-term, or flexible, we’re happy to talk through options that suit you.

If you’re looking for a role where you can just get on with teaching — and do it well — this could be a great fit.
